Having visited Aspen many times, it still never loses its magic. The feeling you get from this beautiful old silver mining town in the Colorado Rocky Mountains is unforgettable. Aspen is so much more than one of the world’s premier ski resorts — it is a true destination in every sense of the word.
Originally inhabited by the Ute Indians, Aspen later flourished as a silver mining town in the late 1800s. Its rich history is still beautifully preserved through the town’s architecture, where historic buildings blend seamlessly with modern luxury. With strict building height limits of no more than four levels, Aspen has maintained an intimate, relaxed, and timeless atmosphere.
Aspen is often described as “the soul of a mountain town with the buzz of a city.”
Warm, welcoming, and visually stunning, Aspen truly comes alive during the winter ski season. Snow-covered streets, twinkling fairy lights, and the dramatic mountain backdrop create an atmosphere unlike anywhere else. Best of all, much of the town is within easy walking distance, making it effortless to explore and enjoy everything Aspen has to offer.

Aspen town sits at the base of Aspen Mountain — or “Ajax” as the locals call it — so even if you are not a skier, you can still take the enclosed gondola up the mountain to enjoy the restaurants and meet family or friends for lunch or dinner. It is incredibly scenic, visually stunning, and so much fun.
The town offers a wonderful mix of cafés, restaurants, and shops, ranging from everyday favourites to high-end fashion boutiques. There truly is something for everyone.
Aspen also has an easy and free shuttle service that provides access to the surrounding ski mountains, including Snowmass, Highlands, and Buttermilk. The service runs approximately every 15–20 minutes, making it incredibly convenient to explore the entire area.
Accommodation options are varied, catering to all styles and budgets. Many visitors are surprised by how affordable an Aspen holiday can be, particularly if you avoid the peak travel periods.

Aspen is so much more than its “celebrity” reputation — it is one of the most fabulous ski towns in the USA, offering countless experiences to make your stay memorable and enjoyable for every type of traveller and budget.
Many people choose to stay in Snowmass, where the ski mountains are exceptional and accommodation is often more reasonably priced.
And if skiing is not your thing, no matter — there are plenty of wonderful après-ski experiences and mountain venues that non-skiers can easily access and enjoy.
